The American Club of Lisbon was founded in 1947, shortly after the end of WWII, by a group of Portuguese and Americans who wanted to establish a permanent organization to perpetuate the friendly relations between the U.S. and Portugal. The American Club has gone through various cycles since that creation 75 years ago, from periods where many American business persons came to Portugal to manage subsidiaries of American companies, followed by periods when American companies realized it was far better to staff American companies in Portugal with local managers, bringing us to the present where we see a growing percentage of Americans choosing to move to Portugal for reasons other than business.
We have always welcomed Americans, Portuguese, and representatives of other nations in striving to accomplish our missions, as defined in our statutes:
- To promote closer relations, mutual respect and cooperation between the peoples of the United States of America and Portugal, and
- To promote the relationship between citizens of the United States of America and Portuguese citizens and of other nationalities residing in Portugal.
Seventy-five years! An impressive record, which we want to celebrate with all the ceremony that it deserves, with the American Club 75th Anniversary Charity Gala at the Palacio Hotel in Estoril on Saturday, October 22, 2022, beginning at 7.30pm with a cocktail reception. Photos and 360 Degree video podium for the guests will be during this time. At 8:30pm you will be invited to the dining room for a 4-course dinner with interruptions for speeches and guest singers.
It will be a wonderful event, black tie and evening dresses, with superb food and drink and live entertainment. You are encouraged to invite guests to come to the event, the cost is 160€ per person for Members and Guests. There will be tables of 8 available for those of you coming with friends.

Regarding the Gala, it is 3 months away so we are still in pre-production. All I can disclose right now is that there will be orchestra (21 ensemble), raffles and DELTA Airlines will be gaming flights to the U.S (you all need to bring your phones to the Gala)
Estoril Palácio Hotel Availability & Room Rates
The hotel only has availability on the night of Saturday 22nd October.
(they are fully booked the Friday 21st October)
The best rate they can offer for the night is:
- Classic Double room for single use € 170,00
- Classic Double room for double use € 190,00
- Superior Double room for single use € 190,00
- Superior Double room for double use € 210,00
City Tax, not included – 2.00€, per person per night, up to a maximum of 14.00€
The tax on overnight stays is applied to all guests over the age of thirteen, regardless of nationality or residence, per person and per overnight stay, up to a maximum of seven nights per stay.
Cancellation Policy:
You can cancel your reservation free of charge up to 3 days before arrival, but 2 or less days before arrival, 50% of the reservation will be charged and 100% of the stay will be charged in case of no-show.
The Reservations should be done directly with the Reservations Department and will be subject to availability.

Golf at Estoril Golf Course
Green fees at Estoril Golf course prices for residents in Estoril Palácio Hotel are:
- Week day – 32€
- Weekend – 42€
They also rent golf sets and have a shuttle service directly to the course which is 2km away from the Hotel.
