The American Club of the Riviera invites you to a private tour by the museum President of the Raoul Dufy exhibition followed by a savory lunch.
The Society of the Museum friends and the restaurant L’Ardoise are offering a unique experience in conjunction with the exhibition “Raoul Dufy. The Miracle of the Imagination” exhibition: a tour of the exhibition, followed by a lunch based on works by Raoul Dufy. Or when paintbrushes awaken taste buds!
Raoul Dufy (1877-1953) is best known today for his brightly colored palette and the cheerfulness of his subjects, from which any form of doubt or anxiety is banished.
This exhibition invites us to discover his artistic development, from the revelation of Henri Matisse’s Luxe, “Calme et Volupté”, where the need to conjure up the ‘miracle of the imagination’ became fully apparent to him, to the development of his touch in relation to that of Paul Cézanne, and finally the blossoming of his own pictorial language in his studio in Vence.
His singular style unfolds throughout the exhibition in landscapes of Normandy and Provence, the motif of the studio, harbor views and bathers, and the musicality of parties and receptions. And while the Norman artist was first and foremost a painter, he also sought very early on to transpose the recurring motifs of his imagination into book illustration, textile design and ceramics.
This project is an opportunity to rediscover the richness of the “Musée des Beaux-Arts” Dufy collection, which is largely due to the generosity of the artist’s wife, Eugénie Brisson from Nice.
Program:
11.00am : A guided tour of the exhibition, to immerse yourself in the colorful and luminous world of Dufy.
12.30pm : A lunch inspired by his works – a menu designed as a gustatory canvas in tribute to the artist.

Accessibility: Please note, if you have reduced mobility that there is no elevator in the museum. The exhibit is on the 2nd floor accessed by stairs.
